Author Raffaello Palandri explores two topics very dear to my heart: sacred Tantra and Kink. I wanted to share his post more widely, as he tickles something profound.
When kink is approached with reverence and intention, then it has strong spiritual underpinnings. Specifically, a sub who spends the time to ground and think before seeing a provider–why am I here, how does it help me grow, how will it change me–all questions which ground them in session in a positive way…such a sub is on a Tantric path.
Elements of kink such as ritual and protocol, terms of respect, and indeed, just the simple act of respect of boundaries, makes the practice more sacred.
Clearly, consent is the foundation for both parties.
Another aspect of D/s within the world of kink is powerfully resonant. Ego death. Letting go of the self. This is an enlightened state which is a part of the Tantric path. D/s takes the well-intentioned there too.
Learning to serve without ego, without goal, without desire. These are factors which are very much in sync for both practices.
This philosophy is core to my approach as a dominatrix and Sex Witch, but also consistent with my practices in my personal life, both devotional and sexual…where I switch.
